Unveiling of Historic Site & opening of Gallery Closed!

Please come and help us celebrate the unveiling of Pittsburgh’s newest (and tallest?) bronze historic plaque, which at 8 feet long, details as much of the history of 1733 Lowrie Street as artists Lenka Clayton and Phillip Andrew Lewis could uncover.

At the same time, and at the same place, we will also be opening Pittsburgh’s smallest gallery, Gallery Closed. Gallery Closed is two windows facing Lowrie Street through which passers-by will be able to look at changing art exhibitions, 24 hours a day. Pittsburgh artists Melissa Catanese and Jon Rubin will be the first to share an image each in the new gallery. Read more about the exhibition here.

Joining us will be the local German choir, the Teutonian Männer and Damen Chor, who will sing their favorite German songs. Artist and singer John Carson will also introduce the neighborhood to its new plaque by singing all of its 1000+ words in the manner of a traditional Irish ballad.

  • Everyone is welcome, non-alcoholic drinks will be provided

  • Rain or shine, please bring an umbrella if rain is forecast

  • Masks are required for the safety of our neighbors

  • The first 30 guests to say “Danny DeVito” to the artists will receive a free signed commemorative artwork
